What is the ICMS?

An introduction to SMU's Integrated Co-curricular Management System

All your co-curricular activities in one place

The ICMS documents your co-curricular journey and the learning from your co-curricular experiences.

Track the progress of ALL your co-curricular activities – community service, internships, student clubs and events and more.

My SMU Dashboard

Click on ‘My SMU Dashboard’ in ICMS to track the progress of your various co-curricular activities (CCAs), complete and submit reflections, generate an interim CCA record, and track the extent of your growth in the SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes.

Gain insights into the skillsets that you have developed through your co-curricular involvement. You can track the extent of your growth in the SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes according to three levels of learning – Exposure, Integration and Transformation, with each level indicating a progressively more impactful experience.

Uniquely yours

From the graduating cohort of 2025 onwards, ALL students will receive a Co-Curricular Transcript, which will complement their academic transcript. Other than documenting activities that students have participated in, this Transcript offers insights into the skillsets that they have developed in the process.

With all completed co-curricular activities organized according to skill and learning outcomes, it is easy to showcase the skillsets you have developed through your co-curricular involvement.

Generate your own interim records via the useful links below, or on My SMU Dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do in the ICMS?

You can track the progress of your various co‑curricular activities (CCAs), complete and submit reflections, generate an interim CCA record, and track the extent of your growth in the SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes.

I have completed my community service project/internship activities and reflections as required. Why is the status in the ICMS still reflected as ‘in progress’?

Before your community service project/ internship is completed, do ensure that all 3 reflections (Pre, Mid and Post) have been completed. Do also ensure you have selected only 3 learning outcomes for your Pre- and Post-Activity (ticking only 3 boxes).

As long as you have completed all of the above, do not worry if you see your community service project/internship placement status indicated as ‘in progress’ as the status will change to ‘completed’ by the time you graduate.

I attended/participated in a co-curricular activity, but my participation is not reflected. What should I do?

ICMS records are submitted by the staff in-charge, and you may check in with the staff in-charge for relevant records.

If the relevant records are not reflected by the following semester, please email the ICMS at icms@smu.edu.sg and we will follow up with the respective department for you.

Can I have activities, events, workshops or competitions that I participated on my own outside of SMU be reflected in my CCT?

As the CCT is an official document endorsed by SMU, only activities endorsed/ validated by a SMU staff are included in the CCT.

If there is a discrepancy in my co-curricular records, what should I do?

For any discrepancies, kindly email ICMS at icms@smu.edu.sg.

Is the CCT endorsed by SMU?

Yes. The CCT will be issued alongside the academic transcript upon graduation.

How does the CCT help me?

Other than documenting the co-curricular activities that you have participated in, the co-curricular transcript complements your academic transcript and offers insights into the skillsets that you have developed through your co-curricular involvement. This allows you to showcase and articulate the career-ready skillsets you possess to potential employers, scholarship boards, etc.

When can I get my CCT?

You will receive your CCT alongside your academic transcript upon your graduation.

If I am not involved in any CCA, does that mean I will not get CCT?

Every undergraduate in SMU is required to do at least 80 hours of community service and 10 weeks of internship to graduate - this means that every student will receive a co-curricular transcript with at least 2 entries upon graduation.

Does this mean I have to do extra CCAs on top of my academics?

Aside from the graduation requirements of 80 hours of community service and 10 weeks of internship, CCA involvement is encouraged but not mandatory.

Are global exposure activities like overseas exchange programmes (e.g., ISEP) included in the CCT?

If your global exposure activities are non-academic related, they will be included upon endorsement by an SMU staff.

If the global exposure activities are academic related, it will be reflected in your official academic transcript instead.

Are reflections compulsory?

Reflections are compulsory for internships and community service projects and are encouraged for other co-curricular activities.

How does writing a reflection help me?

While experience is the basis for learning, learning cannot take place without reflection. Many students complete co-curricular activities without even realizing how they have grown or what they have learnt. Reflecting on your co-curricular experiences enables you to document your learning, and in so doing, you will deepen your learning and personal growth.

When is the deadline for me to complete my community service project/internship reflections?

Your reflections should be completed within 1 month of the community service project/internship end date.
